There is nothing stronger than faith. But being dedicated is something to challenge that power. However, not many people know what it means to be dedicated. Sure, you’d go out of your way to do something that you love; who wouldn’t? But there’s a point where your “dedication” becomes little less than an obsession.
Dedication is putting life and limb on the line to pursue a dream. And this isn’t an exaggeration. It’s when what you dream of lands you with a heavy chance of losing your life every day, yet you continue to chase it anyways. Dedication is eat, train, study, eat, study, ride, eat, train, sleep. Every day. And racing all day on the weekends. Blood, sweat and tears don’t mean a thing. Dedication is waking up every morning with the smell of exhaust in your nose and the slickness of oil on your hands when you haven’t even touched a bike in days.
Dedication is leaving behind all of your loved ones, even with how tragic that reality is, to be able to do what needs to be done. Lonely nights and quiet days, even with 29 bikes revving out on the gate to your right and to your left; that is dedication.
Dedication is shown on any given Sunday, but it is proven on the days in between. Dedication is never giving up the dream, and showing up for every moto even if a first place finish on the second one won’t even place you overall top ten. Dedication is where you leave your heart, so put it out there on every given Sunday. You really have nothing to lose, and that is dedication.
Dedication is knowing that you have the strength to compete, place at the top of your class every time, and having the faith in yourself to do so. Dedication is knowing that even if you make a mistake or if someone kicks you over on the final lap, you can pick up your bike, throttle wide, and finish like the champion you are, no matter what the final points count tells you.
Dedication is knowing that any given Sunday is a new day and a new chance to finally catch the dream that you have been chasing your entire life. Because on any given Sunday, you have the power within yourself to let that gate drop, mob off into the whoops, and choose your own line. Because dedication is choosing your own line and sticking to it, not following the lines of those who came before you.
Dedication is where champions are made. Not the points, not the trophies, not the girls or the sponsors or having your name on that screen on the center of the stadium or being shouted over the loudspeaker throughout the course of the day.
Dedication is every given Sunday. It’s when four wheels move you to the places where two wheels move your soul. It’s the calmness during panic revs for a shot at the checkers. It’s a moto life, and it’s the life I wouldn’t trade for the world.”
